About Us

Following a lifetime of fascination with leather and leathercraft, Philippa Wilson-Buys founded Raw Leatherworks in 2011.  Very quickly, she realised she was running out of space in her home based workshop, so she moved the workshop to a studio in Gateshead.

Here she designs and creates all things leather:  satchels, handbags, hand-carved journals, pouches and anything else her customers ask for.  In fact, what she loves most is to create a bespoke item for a customer.  It is the challenge of something new and the creative thinking required that she loves – but above all, for Philippa it is about the delight on the faces of those customers when they see a specially designed, unique piece of leathercraft, made especially for them.
